MY PC boots so slow...

I decided to install Vista RC 2 on my second hard drive the other day and I have since reformatted it.  The problem is, now then minute I turn on my PC I see the Vaio screen then it immediately goes to a blank screen (black) with a flashing cursor.  It stays at this screen for about 30-45 seconds then loads XP.  What can I change in my boot file  to make that stop happening?  I already changed my timeout to 3 but that didn't help.  Shit my computer used to be restarted in like 30 seconds TOTAL.  :frown:

did you turn your second hard drive into a bootable one? If that's so it may just be a cmos setting you need to switch. Go into your cmos and find the selection for boot preference, if the second hard drive is listed turn it off.

Might not fix the problem but its a thought, you could be seeing this lag because the computer is reading and recognizing the second hard drive as a bootable partition before it loads the bootstrap of your primary OS.

Makes sense...I'll give it a shot :thumbup:  Do you mean edit my BIOS though?  And if I deselect the D: at a bootable drive, will it still recognize it? In other words am I telling the computer not to try to boot the slave too?

My coworker told me to edit my boot.ini, which I already said didn't work so I'm hoping changing the BIOS works.  I'm busy burning season 2 of Rocko's Modern Life so I can't really give it a shot right now.  It's not a problem with my OS, because the lag occurs before anything is even brought into memory.  I already disabled Vista from booting, but I guess it still thinks it had a choice.  :confused:

Nope that didn't work. I don't get it, my timeout is set to 3 and that fucking cursor just blinks for eternity! There's only 4 lines of the boot.ini to edit and there's no relevant context I can see just glancing at it.
