Yeah I'll be around the computer on and off. A SATA drive should be easy to recognize if you have seen the connectors. IDE drives have a whole lot of little pins sticking out that take up most of the width of the drive, and SATA connectors have kind of a sleeker newer look. 100 GB is an odd capacity to see these days so it may be IDE, the older incompatible type.

kr0nik0 It,s in the bios menu somewhere just look around in there probably listed in boot preference but it depends on the bios you have just look around in the bios and use the + and - keys to move the usb to the top of the list Did you addd persistence to the usb? I think slax can use persistence now and unless your going to be storing lots of stuff you can get by with just using usb sticks I picked up a 3 pack of 8g sticks for 20$ and last I looked 32 gb ssd and usb can be had for around 35$ You should like Slax pretty Quick little OS.

I just got back from eating lunch. I'm going to start working on it again.

It appears that I have to boot through Legacy mode or something from what I'm reading on some forums due to it being Windows 8.1.

I think it wasn't showing up before because I didn't create the boot USB correctly. I'm trying it now with an application called .UNebooter.

I was able to change the settings in order to go into Legacy.

Unfortunately when it loaded the Linux/Slax boot screen it froze every time.

I got a buddy that works for geek squad at best buy so I'ma just gonna have him come over tomorrow and try to set this up for me.
