Any ideas for boosting my car radio's range?
    #6319552 -

So I've recently bought a 99 Golf, and I absolutely love it. One of my biggest complaints is the teeny little antennae they put on this thing. If you see a Golf driving around, its that little black one, maybe 8 inches long that they have on the roof. It sucks!

I live in Milwaukee going to school, but I'm from Chicago, and I'm a talk radio/sports radio junkie. My old shitty Grand Am could get those Chicago AM stations easily, but my new car only gets them in perfect weather or at night. (?)

So the basic question for you car kids is this: Is there a simple way I can increase my radio's range? If not, is there an aftermarket antennae I can buy that would increase the range? How hard would this be to install? Would a wire clothes hanger work? I dont give a fuck how it looks, I just want to get some decent stations other than this Republican Jesus-Freak nonsense...

See, thats the thing. There really isnt a mount for my radio. Theres no hole in the car, except a tiny one for a wire to go through. I need a big magnet, or a suction cup I think.

If I remember right, C. Crane radio company sells a device that you place near an antenna, which vastly boosts it's reception... at least on the AM band. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Ack, no... I can't find it.

However, they do sell a very high quality antenna replacement. If you don't have a hole, I think you'd be best off just drilling one for it.

*edit*

Oh, here's that little bastard:

All you do is place it near the antenna. It requires no physical connection. Duct tape the damn thing to the ceiling if you want to
