Hope he had clean hands...
How high is your humidity? You neer very high humidity for pinning.
maybe he should spray/mist his cakes more often.
I don't think he damaged the cake as long it isn't contaminated.

goodluck!

Dosent sound good. It's hard to be sure based on the description "crunchy"- I'm thinking- no, thats not good. As far as knocking the cake over, a healthy cake can easily restand a little bruising ever once an awhile.

If the money is there i recomend buying a digital humidity/tempature gauge from a store such as Radio Shack. It's the best way off being sure that things arent getting too dry.

Good luck.

the humidity is way up there... like 98%-95% , just wondering why they were kinda crisp... they are all bumpy and spiky but no pins so far... i have a humidifier hooked up to the terr. that sends out a fog into the terr... is this enough.. and if so how long do i keep the intervals of myst on for?
thanks

i found that when i had my humidifyer on/on cakes that seemed a litte dry it seemed to dry them out even more. i solved the problem by misting the sides of the terr. no direct spray on the cake though. i've also headr that putting a sterile straw into the middle of the cake and pouring small ammounts of disstilled water into the cake helps i dont knoe if that increses the contam poss. i have never tried it my self so i have no idea. but misting the sides of the terr. helped me.
also i dont know when its to late to dunk?? but that might be an option for you.

i doubt you'll get the water to absorb into the cake. The best idea would be to buy a drill bit (no more than 1/2 inch) and then put a length of straw (2-3") in the hole. Fill that up with water and the cake will absorb the water when needed. Clean water of course.. and a lot easier via a clean syringe. I'm sure you could even put a drop of hyrdogen peroxide to be on the safe side. just be gentle. Arby straws are great to huge!

If your humidifier makes a fog and the walls of your terrarium are wet, then your humidity is fine for pinning. It takes time. Sometimes 2-3 weeks. If your cakes are very light feeling then try the dunk tek. But dont do that until you've let at least 2 weeks pass since birthing.
