Mycelium spikes and marshmellow characteristics??
    #630192 - 05/14/02 08:39 AM (22 years, 6 months ago)

hello everyone,

ok its been 5 days since ive birthed my mezzies, and 2 days since ive birthed my PRs... now on day 5 the mycelium on the mezzies started to form bumps..that eventually turned t0 white spikes comming off the sides of the cake.. now the cake (mezzies) looks 100% healthy just after 5 days these spikes started to form everywhere... dont know if i should be nervous.. there are no colors on the cake exept white. now the PRs that i birthed 2 days ago , when i firt put them in the terr. the cake was smooth and white and solid... 2 days later it started sweeling up like a puffed marshmellow.. i just wanted to know if any of these signs are normal, and if so, about how long till i start seeing pins or something... this is my first time, and without any of you guys to help me out, id be left in the dark..
again any input would be great!
thanks everyone

The same exact thing happened to my friend! We both got all nervous when I went over and saw it, we thought it wasnt normal but give it another 2 or 3 days and it'll start pinning, at least it did for him.
Did it got all wierd ass and lumpy and their were some tufts poking out here and their? (mazopatec right?)

My friend dunked 2 of his cakes right after birthing, and put 2 of them directly into the terriarium. The 2 that were dunked grew mycelium more evenly and started pinning after about 4 or 5 days, the other two took an extra 2 days, and got all lumpy and wierd like you're describing. Dunk them for 12 hours in cold water, it'll help.
