Psychotria veridis germination

Has anyone tried germinating and growing Psychotria veridis? I have some seeds and am looking for any information on the process of germination. I know it is a cousin of Coffea arabica and think that germination might follow the same lines.

I looked at erowid's information first and felt that it was somewhat lacking, but that is normal for most exotic plants. I will try erowid's method and the method that I have used to germinate Coffea robusta .

I followed the erowid suggestions ( http://www.erowid.org/plants/psychotria/psychotria_cultivation1.shtml ) with some success (6 germinated out of 20). I was unsure about soaking the Psychotria viridis seeds for about 15 minutes in a mild bleach solution , so I reduced the suggested dilution to 1/4 Tbs bleach in a cup (8 oz) of water but socked for 30 min. The 6 seeds all germinated when the temperature was between 27 - 32 C. It took 12 weeks but temperatures were lower for the first 8 weeks 20 – 25 C.

If only six out of twenty germinated, I think the bleach killed them. Clorine is very toxic to plants as well as humans. I will try rinsing them in dilute peroxide instead. I noticed with coffee, it takes about 12 weeks so that sound normal. You plants look great. How old are they?

Oh cool, I never got my seeds to germinate with the bleech method. I only had 5 seeds though to start with. I will try this soaking in a mild h202 solution until they swell next time. I bought a huge plant thou, steal of a deal at $12 shipped.

Some info from ayahuasca.com
Soak the Psychotria viridis seeds for about 15 minutes in a mild bleach solution (2 Tbs bleach in a cup (8 oz) of water). This will help keep them from molding during their long germination period.
Rinse and soak the seeds in clear water for 12 hrs.
Plant seeds in potting soil about 1/4 inch deep (8 mm).
Put the whole pot in a ziplock bag for mini-greenhouse effect.
Keep the temp around 70-80 degrees F. (22-28 degrees C.)
Keep out of direct sun.
Be patient! It can take as little as 6 and as many as 16 weeks for germination!
