Hooked on canned fish

This post doesn't contain any wild new recipes.

It just recognizes the simplicity, health, affordability and enjoyment of canned fish. Sardines in oil and herring in tomato sauce are my favs.

It is insanely quick and easy when put over white rice and microwaved.

I used to eat a lot of tuna for a cheap source of protein, but there are problems with eating too much because of the mercury content.

Mabuti brand Portugese sardines in spicy tomato sauce and olive oil. Absolutely my favorite!! Unfortunately I cannot locate any here on the east coast.

It's weird but I don't like fresh salmon, just the canned variety!

I lurve smoked & peppered mackerel as well. Can't beat a healthy shot of omega 3 long chain fatty acids, good stuff for sure!  :thumbup:
