Question for New York Residents
    #6215152 -

Hey all!
I'm going to be taking an art trip to the Metropolitan Art Museum next friday. I'm not too familiar with the city, however I have about 6 hours there. I was hoping to get my assignment done quickly, and then go see the Bathesda fountain in Central Park. How far are the points from one another? Would it be possible to get from one to the other, and then back, to catch my bus ride back home (on foot)? I'm not too too concerned because I could always just grab a cab to the port authority and get a $15 bus ticket back home, but I'd rather not pay extra. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!

If you dont know your way around the city, just take a cab.

Personally, the subway seems pretty simple to me, but I have had people tell me it is hard to figure out. Better to waste a bit of money than to get lost somewhere.

By the way, you can get into the met by just giving them a penny. I like the evil stares I get when I do that.

The Met is where, around 89th St.? Bethesda Terrace is located at about the 72nd Street line that imaginarily goes through Central Park. You have feet, use them. This is a fine city that was meant to be seen on foot, not riding in some herky-jerky cab.

When you leave the Met, ask a security guard or ticket-taker, "Which way is Central Park?" Walk that way, you will hit it - you can't fucking miss it. When you hit it, you will be on Eighth Avenue (also called Central Park West). You'll turn right and take a leisurely walk down 17 blocks to 72nd St. There you'll find a broad entrance into the park and you'll walk into it, and follow the paths and easily find the Bethesda Terrace.

Have fun.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.
