Best Mushroom Cultivator ever

I am going to build a growing box of some sort, but there are a few things i cant figure out. Like any expirence or prefrences::

Which is better? Casing or Not? What strain(s)? One light source, or light from all around? 9er technique or PF Tek? Humidifier, hand spraying, or perlite? For air exchange- fans? bubbler? or regular fanning? Should i drill a hole down the "cake", or not mess with it?

Any help or suggestions would be great! Thanks..

Stamets, Anno, Mycofile, Workman, Una, MushroomGod, Alien, Hippie3, bluhoney to name some....If I left you out.....I'm sorry.

now to answer your questions.

casing is better.....but you might feel more comfortable starting out with cakes.
then working your way up to casing.

As far as what strains.....you will get alot of different answers on this one.

My suggestions on strains for newbies are:
Keepers Creeper
Cambodian
EQ
Acadian Coast

Start with the PF Tek.

Make a fruiting chamber with perilite, a bubbler, with an overhead light.
You can always upgrade later.

Yeah you can drill a hole down the center of the cake.
