portabellos on grain/dung/wood????

i'm breaking into gourmet shrooms. im ordering oyster, and ports friday. i know what the oysters take, but does anyone know what the best for the ports is?

Compost or grain will work. But there is a trick to growing them. You need a biologically active casing in order for the mycelium to fruit. Sterilizing doesn't work but pasturizing does. There are certain bacteria in the casing soil that are needed for proper mushroom development. A strain of Pseudomonas putida is one stimulating species but there are others.
