It doesn't meet recommended because of your video card.

CPU = good
Ram = good
Videocard = Not so good for high res with modern games

You will be able to play fine, but on low graphics settings.

You might want to try Oldblivion, I haven't used it myself but I hear it works pretty well. Or you could upgrade your video card and your system would be more than capable of running this game. The Geforce 7800GT is a great card for the money, the 6800GT would also run Oblivion fine if that's your only concern. Both are available in AGP flavors.

no it willl not run, find out if you have a AGP or PCI E slot

open your computer box, and look inside along the motherboard there will be alot of white slots. The top one will either be BROWN, or BLACK

if its brown thats agp
and black is pci e

find out waht you got, and get like a card for 100 bux.

I got an radeon x800gto and it runs oblivion with no probs on med settings.

reply back with if u have agp or pci, and tell me your max video card budget. il tell you what u should get.

^ no buddy if you want to play this game and not miss out on half of the stuff then i guess u can say it will run.

ALSO.

LayYouIn- If you havent played Morrowind, which is the game before Oblivion, that will run on your card, and the graphics are still really good. It may be a bit slow. But morrowind is actually better then oblivion. It takes a bit to get into it, like you may not like it from the start. But morrowind is just so much cooler and better. I could write like 10 pages on how morrowind outbeats oblivion. ANd its cheep now too

id like to add that its one of my fav games of all time actually, its just so much more free then oblivion. And i love how you can fly...it made the game feel really free. Also there are tons of differnet looking cities and crazy shit> oblivion looks all the same, all city stlyes are the same. I always hate how when ever you just aimlessley explore in Oblivion, it all just seems the same, trees more trees, more same looking houses...its just boring. In Morrowind u got mushroom trees, crazy trees of all types, normal trees, strange people, more strange stuff. Morrowind is just so vast and so differnet, the interface is also alott better then oblivion. Like oblivion its a slow type of game, so sit back, grab a beer (or more like a j) and begin the ride.

sorry thats my stoned rant on how i love that game, ,but that is a good indication of it being good cuz my standards of good games are pretty high.

i bought oblivion and it runs.  i cant run it maxed out on high settings in full screen though.  i have to run it in a window(like an animal) that's a little bit smaller than full screen.  or i can run it full screen slightly below maxed out settings.

this game is pretty good.  i could see it getting boring though after playing it a lot.  but then again, there's a shit storm of add-ons and mods.

thanks guys.  :thumbup: :thumbup:

get morrowind, its better. Trust me. ANd it will RUN well, and you wont have to play it in stupid crap modes.

The mods for oblivion are not all that great, ive read through all of them.

Morrowind doesnt need mods to be good, oblivion does.

problems solved.

my dad tore a NVidia GeForce 6800 GT card out of an old computer and let me use it.  now i can play on ultra high settings, use HDR(whatever that is), and i have no problems anywhere in the game.
