My coolmist

I just recieved my coolmist today which i got for a bargin price of $15! All i need to do now is get some hose from the hardware store and i'll be set.



I do have a couple of questions though:

(1) The cool mist comes out through that grating there. Would it be ok to take the grating out, cover the hole with tape and then cut the right size of hole in the tape for the hose to fit through?
(2) Would it be better if i sat my coolmist on top of my setup and have the hose curl round into the top of one side as opposed to having it on the ground and the mist rising vertically?

Im looking to master pan cyan cultivation with my new setup so i'll be sure to post my success  :thumbup:

1, yes...you want to cut a hole in that grating and fit the hose air tight..any way possible...doesnt matter really how you do it..as long as it works.

2. no..you want the excess condensation to roll back down into your coolmist..you dont want water drops coming out of your hose..rather..you want a fine humidified air coming from the tube.

I've been recommending placing the coolmist on a shelf inside the greenhouse for years now. They'll last much longer, and you don't damage the unit.

For terrariums, you can't beat two to three inches of damp perlite with the lid cracked open a bit for constant air exchange.

I have that very same cool mist. I thought of the idea of making a new output hole. However I changed my mind since it seems it was designed to put out the mist in that spot only. I mean turn it over and really look at it, it funnels the mist straight through that spot. Well what I ended up doing, was jam a piece of clear vinyl tubing 1 1/4" inner diameter (1 1/2 outer?) through the hole. You then pipe it directly into you FC, but I split it off so the mist hit the FC more evenly. That blue pool tubing stuff they have at Lowe's works really good. In fact they have everything you will need there. If you gonna split it off get some PVC connectors that match up and use lots of duck tape.

RR, will the coolmist still supply FAE if its inside the setup? Since my setup isnt huge this is all im using for FAE.
Also i read somewhere that you go through a few coolmists a year. wtf!? Is that because you have it running 24/7 or is it due to the filter blocking up or something?
I guess i'll have mine on 30 mins every hour and i'll have a copule of trays of perlite in there also.

i have the same coolmist and i got black sub pump hose and the fins where the mist comes out. it pops out and the hose fits right in and you dont have to cut it. just pop it in and tape it there
