Help me mod this CoolMist

How would I mod this to be hosed into my Martha?

I think HippieChick had an idea that would work, are you around hippie?

Here's some pics, thanks for all the help!

EDIT: I am asking how to attach a hose, should I cover the existing vent and dremel a new hole, then stick some PVC into it? What size? Etc.

I modded my coolmist by cutting a piece of plexiglass to be the exact shape of the output vent, and then just shaved it down to fit very snug, but a hole in it, stuck a tube, sealed it and now I just plop my little tube lid in the exhaust hole whenever it needs to go into the terrarium, when not I can unplug it and have a normal humidifier in my room. Nothing suspicious here.

Differing model coolmist, but same function.

Go to True Value, or Ace hardware & get some hose like above (will not kink - shut). I would tape over & close existing vent, drill hole, add 3/4 or 1 inch pvc pipe connection & run hose to end of your existing pvc in your Martha, with a pvc adapter.

i have the exact same model i sealed the provided outlet with duct tape then put 2 holes on the flat areas on either side. 3/4 liquid tight connectors 2 straight 2 90s and 3/4 inch internal diameter hose was used to connect to my martha

Here's how I did mine.

Use 1/2" or 3/4" PVC.

Where should I attach the hose to the pvc pipe?

What size hose is best to use?

Right here.


I would recommend using 3/4" O.D. PVC pipe.

If you can do it, sure. I just found it easy to drill a 3/4" hole and slide a 3/4" piece of PVC through it and go that route.

Would drilling the hole anywhere on the lid be just as effective as directly on the exhaust?

Yup. Try to pick a flat spot. Make sure it's above the normal operating water level.

Don't see why that wouldn't work just fine. I like the way you have your humidifier run. Drops of moisture don't form and drop in your Martha, do they?
