Glass petri dishes are horrible for mycology. They're expensive and heavy, slippery when wet, and need to be sterilized between uses.

I recommend only the presterized plasic dishes for mycology work, since you'll end up with dozens of dishes at once if you're doing strain isolations.

The glass one are like $4.65 ea at fungi.com and the presterized plasic dishes ones are $6.49 for 12.

if you want something you can steam sterilize and reuse but want more durability
than glass, look into polymethylpentene dishes (polycarbonate) they run about the
same as glass but you wont have breakage issues or as RR mentioned, slippery dishes
