some baseball thoughts
    #6131576 -

a) Vernon Wells, sitting in on SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight, is much more fit for a broadcasting role than Tino Martinez ever will be. Sorry Tino, I love you and all, but you just don't got it. It's funny seeing Wells get his feet wet as a broadcaster knowing he's about to sign a contract extension - I guess a job will be waiting for him.

b) Derek Jeter, like Paw said, is a machine. You know the MLB slogan, "I Live For This"? That is Derek jeter. 5 for 5 on opening night of the postseason. God damn. You can rag on the Yankees all you want but Jeter and bernie Williams hold some of the all-time records for postseason baseball and money didn't get them here - our farm system did. And guess what? Our farm system's stacked again for the first time in five or six years. Nothing's over.

c) We win again tonight. Game 3 is our game to lose. Randy is so much of a question mark that we're going to have to rely on the bullpen in his start earlier than we'd like, whether he exits after 5 out of caution or earlier due to injury.

Okay, so w/ the exception of Bernie and Jeter, you still bought your ENTIRE team...

I dont see how you can possibly feel any connection w/ or root for a team like that, but thats for you and the rest of you NY'ers to figure out...

Posada's homegrown too, so is Mariano Rivera, so is Chien-Ming Wang. We may have paid for Moose but Moose is a Yankee, and any Yankee fan will attest to that I think.

Yeah, I need to get home. I have to type an asbestos paper and do a quick Paleontology lab, and I have a fat sack in the car. <--- (Also known as "Motivation in a Bag"

Do you know if El Duque is pitching today? I heard something yesterday about him busting up his leg?

He was doing sprints in the outfield and strained his calf, John Maine is pitching for the Mets today. I think he's gonna put up a good outing, though the Dodgers are dangerous...if the Mets win this game it'll be cause they have a couple of explosive innings.

Is he done for the playoffs, or just today?

If he's done, the Mets are fucked.
