A friend of mine has a question about his casing. After a massive overlay problem. he decided to deep scratch and recase with a 1/4 inch casing mix. (50/50+). He then cold shocked overnight and put the tray back in the terranium. Its been about 2 weeks and the mecylium is begining to surface again, but no pins in sight. It is time to give up and throw the mass outside or is there still hope? Also how long will it take for small 1/2 inch fruits to finish up on pf cakes. He is using the sea of shrooms tek. If anyone is experienced with this method.. your imput would be most helpful!

Your mycelium is breaking the surface again.....so be careful.
If it starts to overlay again.....I'd cold shock it real good.....like 12 hours or more. then stick it back into the fruiting chamber and give it light and lots of air exchange.
good luck!

should I deep scratch and patch case and THEN cold shock or just cold shock? What are some ways of preventing cross-contamination from fridge to grow chamber after this?

cover your casing up so its not exposed to contams from the frig....cover it up with plastic or Alum foil....seal it up good!
If you are overlayed.....I'd patch.....then let it start coming through....then cold shock.
I try and not cold shock.....Only had to do it once. Catch the casing before it overlays...is my motto.
I always fruit before overlay.....and give it light and lots of air exchange. I watch my casings like a hawk!
