No lunch break at Hotel

I work at a hotel as a front desk clerk. My shift is 7am-3pm, 5 days a week. Now in these 8 hours of working, I dont get a break or a lunch break. Illegal. Ive worked here for 5 months. My co-worker, who has been there for 5 years now, says that its been like this for the last 3 years(new ownership). She once brought this matter up with our boss. Boss contacted coporate and coporate pretty much told the boss to try to get rid of the employee. She's still there today.
One day, after my shift(she works the next shift), I finally ask her what was up with this, because I was mad. We talked about everything and how they made us sign a ON SITE MEAL AGREEMENT when we first started, which is Illegal she told me.
I called labor board because I wanted to anonomusly report this. The man I spoke to told me in these cases it cant just be reported annonomusly, I would have to file a claim, blah blah blah. ......I didnt want to do that because I didnt want to loose my job. Although legally they cant fire you for that reason, but they could find a way, im sure. As of TODAY, I am looking for another job and quitting this one.
Yesterday my co-worker told me she is going to an attorney to handle this. She told me to think about if I wanted to go with her, and another ex-employee to the consultation. Would this be a whole, big court ordeal??
Court does not sound very fun to me. Our boss has no idea that we want to take action about this.

Would the fact that my boss knows Ive been stoned on the job affected anything to go on in court? I know its a different subject but if I DIDNT work there anymore and did all this court crap, could she hold that against me? I do have a medical marijuana prescription. But I did make the mistake of going to work stoned a couple times. And since Ive got a BIG MOUTH for a friend, my boss knew about it. But Never confronted me about it.


If you have any advice, or Ideas...please share.

there are whiltleblower protection laws, basically saying you cant fire your employee for ratting you out.

look into that if youre determined to take the legal route.
