hunting in northern California's coastal Forest
    #604926 - 04/11/02 01:05 AM (21 years, 10 months ago)

I was wondering if you experienced hunters could help me out. I am going on a trip to Big Sur in early July which is a forest on the Northern California coast, could you guys tell me of any good shrooms I could come across.
Liberty Caps? maybe?

Hey,
I dont think many active shrooms grow there . Ive been there quite a few times and haven't found anything. Course, I really wasnt looking that hard, but its too dry there for anything. If you find a pasture, you might wanna go looking, but its most likely very rare you'll find anything.

Try more north

Big Sur = Big Bust.

this time of year, you will find next to nothing.
Fall is the time to hit up these places, but i would recomend even further north if you are up to it. head to the woods south of Eureka... need wetness... need far north.

too dry right now in the big sur.

Agreed with the last poster. Give the stems of each of the little guys on the right a bit of a crack and twist. Wait an hour. Take another picture and show us the bruising, ideally up close.. That would help.

I'm new here myself and am sure I have many future blunders still in me. I thought maybe there was a connection with Big Sur and got confused when it pivoted, which is when I saw the date of the OP.
