Hey, i'm pretty new to this board... I was thinking about trying to find some shrooms in my area, but i don't know the least about what conditions they grow best in. Should i wait until it rains? what kind of weather should be going on for the few days before i check? any input would be great

go to the hunting FAQ/hunting section. People dont like to respond to questions that are answered already.

You need to read the rules because you are breaking them.
Everything you need to know can easily be found at http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23470 if you put a little effort into it.

Our mushroom season is November through April. Those are when we get the most rainfall, and temperatures aren't too high.
I feel blessed to live in Northern California when we hit our winter. I've walked into forests seeing hundreds of mushrooms of all shapes and sizes in just a few hours.
Id check the forests for the most amount of mushrooms. Check horse stables for active mushrooms. Pine for King Boletes, and madrone/tanoak for chantrelles.

what area of NorCal are you? I don't want too specific, it's just that Cali is a big state.

That's great. I recently purchased two mushrooms guides from amazon and received them 2 days after purchase (with the free shipping which is supposed to take 5-10 days). Amazon rocks! Anyway, i also purchased a digi cam on ebay for my norcal adventures. Im in modesto, which is around 1-2 hours drive from mountains and beaches. Is this a good area you think to go hunting?
