Caramelized Karo - Thee End?

A friend of mine made a liquid culture jar, and PCed for an hour, unaware of the caramelization factor. The resulting LC was indeed brown, but he inoculated it anyway. When I was asked if the whole thing was no good, I had to admit I didn't know. So the question is this: Did he waste a syringe (his last one), or is it possible he'll get some growth?
I suggested that perhaps it could be saved by the addition of more Karo. Any thoughts on that? Thanks!

there is a slight chance he will get some growth..
but depending on how bad it is burnt it could be trashed
next time tell him to do it for 20 mins and make sure to use distilled water
i had alot of trouble with carmelization untill i strated using distilled water
another thing
when making LC's you don't need but maybe 1/2cc to get good growth
using an entire syringe on one LC is a big waste
hope he has some good luck on his side
