We're going to the world series this year motherfuckers... that's my prediction and I'm sticking to it!

One game at a time man but I have to say yesterday has left me at a hiiiigh level of confidence...higher than even before! My god, if we can pull off the sweep now and go up 6 and a half games that will be amazing...I liked exactly only one thing Jon Miller said last night (are him and Jon Morgan hooked up to IV's of liquified stupidity or something?), that Joe Torre will go for the Jugular in today's game if he has a lead in the 8th or 9th.

GOD DAMN! Last night's game was the best baseball game I've watched all season.

Yeah same here bro. That (last night) was definitely the best game I've seen thus far this season. I was being so loud I woke up my brother who then came out to watch the end of the game. :rotfl:

i dont know who to give credit to on this.. Yankees for playing well or the Sox for pitching shitty (with the exception of Papelbon).

either way. Yanks sweep and take a nice 6 1/2 game lead. Sox are pretty much done for IMO. they have a very tough schedule ahead.

Where as the Yankees have something like a combined 20 games against Baltimore, KC, and Tampa Bay.

Can they beat Tampa Bay this year? They lost the season series against them last year.

Yeah - that was sad. This year we've definitely been beating them, but not sweeping them outright...do you know where I can look up team vs. team series stats anywhere? I was looking around on Yankees.com today but I couldn't find it.

I found this page, but it just shows records vs. every team, not specific statistics. I don't know of anywhere to find them either, but I've never really looked. I'll look around for a little while and let you know if I find anything.

That's exactly right actually, thank you! Looks like this season vs. our division we're:

vs. Boston - 10-5
vs. Toronto - 7-5 (they've definitely given us problems...especially @ Rogers Centre)
vs. Tampa Bay - 8-3 (much better, heh)
vs. Baltimore 7-5

I spent the day reading some wild articles all about the Red Sox. Some guy did the math, and without interleague play, they would likely have a record of .500, they were something like 14 and 1 or some shit in Interleague play. vs. other AL teams, the BoSox were 53-52 this season!

Here is a page that shows some batting statistics of every team vs. TB this year.....go to the stats section on espn and play around with it. It looks like you can get all of the information that you are looking for there.

Yeah, I know they had a great record against the NL. Just about every AL team did. I think that only 1q NL team was over .500 in inter league play. That's pretty fucking sad.

Of all the NL teams, only the Rockies had an avg above .500 in interleague. That's what solid pitching gets you, I guess. Or luck. Half this shit is all a crapshoot anyway. :smirk:

I want the Yankees in the World Series for obvious reasons, and I want the Mets in not just because they're another NYC team and I want a Subway Series, but also because even though they were 6-9 in Interleague they seem like the only team with a chance of putting up a good fight. I don't even know if they can win, unless Pedro and Glavine are in top top form...and having El Duque on your side in the postseason is no small thing to wonder at, as you yourself know all too well. (bases loaded no outs vs. the red sox..that was one great postseason moment!)

But shit, I think about the other NL teams that are gonna likely be involved in the postseason and the Dodgers are the only ones who I can see getting to the series other than the Mets. The Cardinals are just a sad sight in a weak division this year...they just don't seem to have it all coming together, especially pitching-wise. Pujols and Rolen and Edmonds (now with a concussion) can only take them so far...and the wild card, I mean Arizona Cincinnati and Houston are the front runners in that department and none of those teams really put the fear in me. Clemens/Pettite is an advantage for Houston but man...the National League just sucks.

Yeah, definately having El Duque will be an advantage for the Mets. It was unbelievable how well he pitched towards the end of the year last year. That performance against Boston has to rank as one of the best performances in post season history.

The Mets were looking like the favorites most of they year, but now I have got to say that the Dodgers really look like they are going to put up a major fight. The addition of Maddux, and Kent and Garciapara coming back were huge for them.

I am kind of rooting for the Reds a bit. I really like watching them. That Ryan Freel is a fucking human highlight reel. Have you seen that kid?

Thanks for mentioning El Duque in the playoffs last year. I'm gonna take advantage of my mlb tv subscription and watch that performance again. Man, that was awesome.

I like the Reds, I like the underdog status they have beneath their fellow NL Central red-and-white uniformed Cardinals...I'd love to see them have a good streak and take the division. It would be great to see Griffey in the postseason.

I agree with you on the Dodgers...Kent's a machine, and Maddux was a great grab for them...that's a front office with the postseason firmly in their sights, unlike Mr. Epstein up in Beantown.

I just watched El Duque against Boston.....it's not as good when you know what's gonna happen haha. But I remember being on the edge of my seat and holding my breath on every pitch. It was intense.

I like Griffey as well. And Dunn is a beast. I have him on my fantasy team. He does pretty good, but I lose the strikeout catagory every week, most of the time because of him.

I've always hated Jeff Kent, but he's good. And everyone thought that Maddux was done, but he's hardly given up shit since he joined them. He gave up like 4 runs in his last outing, but he had a 10+ run lead, so he probably wasn't in as much of a zone as he would be in a tight game. His other starts for LA have been flawless.

Just heard as I was typing this that the Mets traded for Shawn Green.
