ok, if you're actually serious, I'll enlighten you man, humidity is the amount or percent of water or moisture in the air, hope that helps.

You like humidity?

Have on jar water. Put water in jar in jar of air. Mix air and water. You have humidity.

Heh, humidity is just the amount of water in air, a higher # means more water in the air... heh, if you're even serious.

what noone here has really answered is what humidity is.
most hygrometers that you'll buy at radioshack, sears, etc measure REALATIVE humidity.

what this means, is;

RH = (water vapor in the air)/(water vapor the air can hold at SATURATION) * 100%

As teh temperature rises, the air as the capacity to hold more water (to be come saturated)

so, the actual water in the air at 70 degrees is lower than the water vapor in the air at 80 degrees if the humidity at both is say 50%.

Say you had your terrarium at 95% humidity and 74degrees.. and your dog turns the thermostat up to 84 degrees. the relative humidity will drop to about 80-90%(not sure, theres a curve that will allow you to calc. it) because the hotter air can hold more water vapor

Relative Humidity

Relative humidity is a percentage of water vapour per area at a specific temperature.

Relative humidity can be calculated using various methods and instruments. It is a calculation to find out how many grams of water vapour can be held at a given temperature. Usually, the warmer the air the higher it's capacity for holding water vapour. Each specific temperature has a holding limit for water and the actual amount of water held in the air at the time of measurement can be represented as a percentage.

For example, if a parcel of air at 20?C has a limit or capacity of 16 grams of water vapour and 16 grams of water vapour is measured, the air's holding capacity is at it's maximum, the relative humidity (RH) of the air is said to be 100%. Take the same air with 8 grams of water vapour and your RH is 50%.

>water vapor the air can hold at SATURATION

Air doesn?t hold water vapor. It doesn?t matter if there is air or any other gas or nothing present, as long the temperature and pressure is the same, there will be a certain amount of water in the gaseous state.

Read the links Seuss provided to see why.

No, you're right, that was incorrect terminology.
but the maximum amount of water vapor the air CAN contain (100% RH) is different at every temperature.

100% RH at 5 degrees C contains less water vapor than 100% RH at 25 degrees C

RH is relative to the temperature, because the saturation point (100% RH) as temperature rises requires more gaseous water.

As I said before, leave the air out of the play, air has nothing to do here.

Yes. And it?s also relative to pressure.
