these are growing in one of my moms pots in out backyard. they are growing on mulch. Im thinking they might be Gymnopilus spectabilis.






Ive had alot of experience hunting cubes and ive learned that smell means alot, these smell good... like actives i mean.

sorry, no. those are most likely the poisonous Flowerpot Lepiota, or Leucocoprinus luteus. dont eat it.

Some type of Lepiota is my guess aswell. There all around Louisiana right now.

Leucocoprinus seems like a reasonable guess taking the habitat into account.

well they also look exactly like the ones i found in my garden, which happened to be leucocoprinus. i also looked up some similar species, and even the similar species look noticably different.


also, i love the fact that i know this junk :laugh:

heres a pic of what you think you have. notice the thicker stems and scaley cap.



heres two pics of what i thik it might be, the fisrt one demonstrating the cap, and the second one demonstrating the stem.....couldnt find any good pics. they are both the same species.

Leucocoprinus birnbaumii (l. luteus) usually looks distinctly yellow, but the color difference might be incidental or a result of the color balance of the photograph.
