was watchin this movie last night...and it hit me.

another reason drugs are illegal is to help the gov. find out who's with them and who's against them....and to get them off the streets.

its like danglings a bomb infront of a terrorist so to speak....except the gov is being smart and going after "baby" terrorists.

those that sorta understand what ive poorly worded, thoughts?

I'm not sure I agree with that... y'all are making the assumption that people who dislike drug laws want to OVERTHROW the gov't. Most people I know that use drugs just want to reform the drug laws, not overthrow the gov't. Anyone here on the Shroomery want to completely overthrow the gov't?

IMO, people that want to overthrow the gov't are more likely to be in militias or fringe religious organizations.

I think the main reason that the gov't has some of these stupid drug laws is summed up by a quote from Ken Kesey:

"I believe that with the advent of acid we discovered new ways to think, and it has to do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people think it's so evil? What does it scare people so deeply? Because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they're afraid to go in and they don't want other people to go in there either because if they go in there we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control."

Alright, well perhaps you took my statement too literal. That's an age old philosphy of politics, I was just applying it somewhat to today's world. Obviously the stoners of the world won't "overthrow" the government, but I'll be damned if a lot of us aren't actively seeking a change.

yeah well if your about to watch the movie, keep on the look out for a person holding a sign during a riot or w/e....the sign i SWEAR says bush. which i couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time....the whole movie is basicly about our gov as it is right now....its a great movie.

but during some of it i couldn't help but think that not only was there a message delivered to us...but at some parts and i cann't remember which ones right now....but it seemed like there was a message delievered ot the gov as well.
