Do you think these are ok to eat?
    #593085 -

Here i have 2 mushrooms that before they were harvested, fell over and layed in perlite for a while. They seem to just be a bit bruised but I still am not sure if it is alright to eat them. Is perlite bad to injest? The second mushroom just split at that spot and i kinda picked a chunk out of that cap.

Well, I know perlite is poisonous. Infact you should avoid trying to breathe around it if its dry. However, I dont know whether or not those are save to eat. The one cap looks ok i guess, but then again, i have no idea what mushroom rot looks like.

All i can tell you is dont eat perlite.

Im not sure if its rot or not because these were just picked a couple hours ago and they were just laying on perlite. I dont know how that would make them rot. I just threw away all the parts that actually came in contact with the perlite or looked bruised. This is what i could salvage from 2 caps.

They seem a little bruised and dried up, but otherwise ok.

The inside of the cap that is cut open on the right in the post apears to have a tiny bit of "rot" to me.... man I hate to disagree with Anno

As long as there dry you should be fine.

What I *think* that I'm seeing is the utmost beginings of rot. However if it's at the stage that I'm thinking it would take at least another two days or more to become unedible.

Either way, I feel that there perfectly safe to eat as long as they dont stink and are totaly dry.

Just another opinion.

yea i see what your saying... teh reason i was saying there ok is because they were dry, maybe if he wouldnt have dried them you know :-) not trying to flame or argue... so dont misinterpret :-)

I have found a big mushie that couldnt support its wieght. when i woke up one morning it had fallen on the wer perlite, that is what caused it to rot. same as if you watered your mushies directly

quick somewhat off the topic question...i have read that after a flush it was a good idea to place the cake directly on the perlite....wouldnt that be equaly harmful as the mushie lying on the surface.....hmmm bottom line is perlite bad to have any thing incontact with?
