Waking up happy!!!??

I always seem to wake up every morning feeling really shity, tired and depressed (sometimes I wake up and the first word that comes to my head is "death") and unfortunanetly afterwards its an uphill struggle trying to get through the day. By the end of the day '1m usually fine but then it starts all over again.
A couple of years ago I had a similar problem and it seems I sorted it accidently by changing the deco in my room and the position of my bed. I started waking up early, in a great mood and eager to do things.
Now unfortunanetly I'm staying in a room with very little natural light and its all plain white. I avoid going in there at all because as soon as I enter I want to either fall asleep or switch the TV on and do nothing.
Althoughh I'll only be staying here for another month (working holiday) I'll decorate it with some poster and I've also seen a nice mushroom lamp that I saw in a shop and I like.
Any advice generaly on having a good sleep? Not just it terms of "Feng Shui" just any kind of advice (about food)

i feel good if i stay in a dream way too long, going in and out of it many times, so that when i "wake up" my brain feels "overamped" and alert, as opposed to sleepy.
it's an odd feeling though.
otherwise well.... i feel you on natural light. that's so important. i can't really advise much though, except learn to elaborately prolong your dreams then get up after they end?

Figuring out your sleep cycles can help you wake up feeling better. Try and wake up in a multiple of 90 minutes after you went to bed. So try to shoot for 6, 7.5 or 9 hours of sleep. You should wake up feeling best.
For example, 7.5 hours of sleep should make you feel better than 8, because you are not waking up during REM sleep. Everyone is slightly different though, so you might need to play around with it a bit to get it right, but it should be near 90 minutes.

i learned to wake up really angry every morning. i would yell and curse at my roommates and under my breath. then i would make coffee, go outside and drink it and smoke a ciggarrette and feel totally awake and at peace.
that was the greatest morning routine i ever had. the anger woke up me and got me active instantly, and the coffee and ciggarrettes in peaceful scenery got me appreciating life right at the start.
edit: hehehehe, a baby approach to life can be very satisfying. cry and get angry till you stick things in your mouth and you'll feel great.

And something else:
I wake up and then I fall back to sleep again sleep for another 10 minutes, wake up then fall sleep for another 10 minutes...... this can go on for up to 2 hours and realy tires me. I think as soon as I hear the alarm I must jump out of bed and not even consider going there again.

I usually fall asleep around 12:00 - 1:00 and wake up at 7:30, but I get out of bed around 8:30. So most of the time I spend an hour just waking up and falling asleep again.

Try facing the head of your bed north...supposedly it has something to do with keeping your bodies energy in alignment with the Earths energy field.

Aside from what has been mentioned already I would add regular exercise (not too close to bedtime) and maybe some relaxation exercises just prior to lying down. Also let go of the emotions of the day which are negative because you'll carry them with you into your sleep and they may be magnified by the time you wake up.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not preaching Bible here, but there is a good line in there that says "Let not the sun go down upon thy wrath." Which fits into the last sentence above.

Try to incorporate a more strict sleeping schedule. Go to bed at 12.00 and get up at 7:30, using a clock. Put the clock somewhere, where you have to get up, when the alarm is set off. And after that, don't go back to bed but go to the bathroom and take a (not too hot) shower. This will wake you up and keep you awake.
