Anyone know good Experimental Ambient music?

I don't know what I expect to get from posting this here but what the hell. I'm really into experimental ambient music. You know the stuff, looong tracks, endless drones, deep textures, rich soundscapes. The type of music that sends most people loopy. Anyway, I got a hold of Coil's album "time machines" and I really want to find some similar stuff. It's gotten to me and I need more. I'm into stuff like Brian Eno and Robert Rich as well as Coil (obviously) and Autechre, Aphex Twin, blah blah blah. Anyway, if anyone knows any cool experimental ambient music, this could be your chance to recommend it to someone who will appreciate it (not too many do.)

I remember hearing some Coil and really likng it. I think it was on World Serpent label. Anyway, I have only Reich Remixed. I can't recommend it. Social Interiors was something I heard that was really cool. It sounded like a million toilets being flushed repeatedly at different speeds etc.. Terminal Pharmacy by John Zorn may or may not be classified as "ambient" (I just remember liking it). "Kluster" or "Cluster" was cool. One of 'em is boring (I forget which). I will look at my notes on this and post something. Merzbow from Japan is interesting.

It may not be ambient per say but Faust's "You Know Faust" has more than a couple long, deep textured, low-tech, trippy tracks. They tend to be loopy, warped, pulsating, loud. It is supposedly industrial. I loooove it. Jim O'Rourke is the guy behind "Terminal Pharmacy". That is a good one. Social Interiors's "The World Behind You" is recommended.

Great, I'll check them out. I have just been reading about Alan Lamb, a guy who attached microphones to telephone wires in remote Australia. Definitely sounds interesting. I'm off to check out Faust right now, thanks frogsheath.

O.K. I'm gonna look up Alan Lamb. I saw Faust live here in Chicago a few years back. Those guys are NUTS! They rarely tour. Handheld fireworks inside a small bar with a low ceiling and packed house. My friends were a little dissapointed with the "music". Anyway, thanks for the tip- I love that kinda stuff. Telephone wires? Cool!

You should check out the Solaris soundtrack by Cliff Martinez. It's by far my favorite ambient album.

There is also a Black Moth Super Rainbow album that is mostly ambient. It's an EP called "The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed"

Eskmo just released an EP you can get for free (or pay for, it's name your own price).
http://www.eskmo.com/music/ambient-p-stretch-ep/
Check out Pale Sketcher as well. The genius behind Napalm Death, Godflesh, and Jesu. Pale Sketcher is his more electronic take on the guitar-based Jesu.

You can listen to tracks on the side. Drag Your Feet is a personal favorite.

One of my favourite tracks is Desiderii Marginis - Deadbeat. The album of the same name is just sublime imo.
FSOL's "Environments" 1, 2 & 3 are all good.
As is Atrium Carceri...
