slugs solution... i need some tips

i just harvested fruits from one of my outdoor patches and i noticed slugs were eating holes in the caps and stems. i have tried salt around the patch but it keeps disolving into the ground. now i am attempting to place a ring of pennies around the base of the patch.

anyone have any other tips besides the salt and the pennies??? input is alway appreciated here.~thenewguy

Beer. A bowl or container of beer that should be burried to the edges of the container in dirt. For whatever reason the slugs are attacted to it. They fall in and are unable to escape, so the die.

Not so sure about that. It might be the alcohol that kills them, or neutralizes their slim so they are unable to climb. I really do not know. I just know its what people in my area(See: The South) use in their gardens to combat slugs that munch on their plants.

ya it works great. My girlfriend uses it around her garden and i didnt think it would work that good but it really does

There are at least 5 different kinds of anti-slug products at my local gardening store. I suggest using one of them.

But you can drink the extra beer you don't use on the slugs! That's a two for one deal, how can you pass that up?

Using beer to kill slugs is alcohol abuse. That's a party foul where I come from.

Best to drink the beer yourself unless it's some shitty kind that a friend abandons at your place. Only use undrinkably shitty beer like Olympia or Blatz on slugs.
