It appears that the battles in the Afghan mountains are too much for Americas precious soldiery. Troops have been withdrawn and guess whos going to be footing the casualty bill? thats right folks, NATO's crack mountain and arctic warfare specialists, the Royal Marines.
While this move may be militarily justified (Royal marines are much tougher and more effeicient than thier American counterparts), one wonders if this move is not soley politically motivated. Mayhap, george W. is a little anxious about what might happen to his support base if many more precious Americans lost thier lives in Afghanistan.
War means death. America should realise that. You cant win wars from 45,000 feet and yet it seems that Britain always has to pay, in lives, for America's sensitivity to the butchers bill.

Granted the Brittish have some excellent military units, but really they are still Brittish and will eventually get in over their heads and need us to come in and bail them out. Not like the French mind you, they just get their asses kicked six ways to sunday.
But from the way your post sounded are you brittish or are you one of them silly canadian's looking for any excuse to try and bash the USA? If your a brit you guys can generally hold your own for a while but we'll be back...how ever if your canadian just shut the fuck up what do you people know about the military and warfare?

We wouldn't be there if you British assholes hadn't started this whole problem with your thoughts of world domination. If you would have left the ragheads alone they would still be riding camels. Our only true ally is the Canadians. We owe no one else anything.
Oh yea, did you forget a little thing called WW II. If not for us you'd be goose stepping. Maybe now is time for some payback or do you think the U.S. should just keep doing for you and get nothing but kind words in return. I'm getting sick of all this US bashing. I'm not a super patriot or anything and I know the people running things suck. But the American people have done more for civilization than any other peoples. So don't give me that our Marines have to do your job. The Islamic people need to clean their own house, get rid of their radicals, or the rest of the world will need to rid itself of Islam - very simple. Problem solved.

If I had a friend that started a bunch of problems with other people because of greed, and then simply walk away leaving the problems for someone else to fix I'd call him an asshole. What would you call him???
I hold countries and people to the same standard. Am I wrong. By the way sometimes the U.S. behaves like assholes, and I call my country of birth and Asshole. Two years in the jungles of South East Asia gives me that right.
By the way I fought next to British Marines and they are a very qualified and in general great bunch of guys.

What do Canadians know about warfare?
Lets go to the history books how many White Houses did we burn down? Oh yeah I remember two, but that is in the past we shook hands and forgot about that and you guys buried that in your history books (The war of 1812). Canadians fought in the Boer War, but lets skip ahead a little now to WW1 Canadian forces fought and took Vimy ridge no other battle group in europe could take, WW2 all I will say is Dieppe and let not forget Juno beach and the countless battles fought into the heartland of Germany. We really must not no very much about warfare wait a minute we were there at the begining of both world wars and at still standing at the end of both. Lets skip ahead again to Korea and 2PPCLI the only non-AMERICAN unit ever to receive a presidental citation for bravery after they fought and held the mountian pass at Kapyong after the Americans tacticly retreated. Oh not to forget the countless peacekeeping missions the Canadians have served in. Yet we are told to "shut the fuck up" because we no nothing about military and warfare.

Why do you stupid Canadians keep trying to claim credit for the War of 1812, you retards didn't even get any kind of self-governing until 1867, but you still had connections with the crown so it seems to me it was the British we were fighting in 1812 not that it really matters i suppose since it's still a win for us. And you people call us stupid we at least know when we became a country and don't try to claim otherwise.

gee, it's no wonder i usually avoid these political forums. do you folks who state these postions so strongly know how you sound? apparently not. i won't say there are not great differences in ideology in the world, but this is not what i hear, discussions of ideology. what i see is: the human inhabitants of Earth draw lines in the dirt and then tell each other 'right and wrong, good and evil, depend upon which side of the line you happen to be on'.
of course, the kind of person you are is determined by what dirt your great-great-great grandparents came from.
the people 'over there' are people just like 'here'. they are likely saying the same things about you. stereotyping by lumping everyone from one country together in the same catagory is just another form of prejudice.
i once told a career military man that "the only reason we need people like you in this country, is to protect us from people like you in that country".
oh, and of course, we all know the british invented expansionism. no country or culture in history had ever founded colonies or left their own dirt for trade.
IMO: nationalism is the greatest obstacle to world peace (if such a thing is even possible).

This is called 'rotating your troops'. Fresh troops are a good thing.
So, uh, what units have you served with? I'm wondering where you became such a font of military knowledge. If you were in the Royal Marines or Special Boat Squadrons, then I would be very impressed. I'm guessing not, though.

All I have to say is Navy SEAL. A team of those is as good as a dozen infantries or any other special ops groups.

OK we all have our dicks out. Is there any wonder why the world is on the brink of WW LAST?
Even though I am a Marine I have to agree with Papa_Smurf I watched the Seals train in Oxnard, Calif and seen what they could do in RVN. They definately have brass balls.
