My Glove box design

Okay. I've been doing some thinking on creating my own still air glove box, and with only doing a mild bit of research on the matter, this is what I've come up with. It follows the pattern of many of the positive pressure boxes I've seen on here, but offers a few key differences. First of all, once the lid is closed, it would be a completely sealed environment (via weather stripping and high strength magnets)
The box would have two hepa filters, one on the left side, and one on the right side, both with a 120mm computer fan mounted inside the box to pull air through the filter. The fans would in-turn be attatched in paralell to a Normally Closed Rocker Switch (less than 2 dolars at your local radioshack, I believe...my roomie just happened to have one) The rocker switch would be attatched just below the door cut into the lid, and would automaticly be switched off whenever the door is closed, and automaticly turned on whenever the door is opened. I've made a crappy little diagram here that will hopfully help with the visualization of this.

I just wanted to get your guys' feedback before I actually shelled out the cash to build this thing...wanted to make sure it would work.

A "still air" box, doesn't require filters, or openings at all for that matter.
A box with a translucent lid and two arm holes, possibly with gloves attached is all you'll need.

for a long time i used a cardboard box with a saran wrap top and two holes just bigger than my arms, with a little trap door cut in the back to put things in. i'd get all my equipment in, let the air settle, and go to work, moving quickly yet gently. i wore the gloves but they weren't attached to the box. i had a 100% print & syringe making success rate and nearly the same dealing with agar (although dealing with agar was few and far between). obviously a rubbermaid or the like would be more durable and easier to clean, so i use that now in a pinch, it works nearly as good as the "pro" equipment. a cardboard box... who'da thought?
still air is exactly what it sounds like... still the box keeps out drafts, drafts keep contams from becoming airborne, and that keeps them from landing in/on your work.
positive pressure is when filtered air is blown into the box, so that its always being forced out any cracks or gaps. somebody correct me if im wrong, because im not sure, but i think HEPA filters also have a "flow" rating - they only become that 99.995% effective or whatever it is they are when you have an appropriate amount of airflow through them... chances are a cpu fan isn't going to be pulling enough air through.

I see what you're after. You want to filter the air while loading, then have it shut off after the product is in the box. Nice idea, but not necessary. Just make it without all the extras and it will work great. RR
