Deadly Amantia?

I remember seeing a picture of a really deadly Amantia once, and my friend just gave me some mushrooms, this one reminds me of the picture I saw...

Very possible. Looks reminiscent of an Amanita, and the white ones are the (mostly) deadly ones. Only thing is the cap which is turned up like that...but that most likely due to the age of the specimen.

It's an Amanita, but it isn't A. phalloides or A. virosa, the two Amanitas that seem to cause the most poisonings. The presence of warts on the cap and the volva not being saccate are both good indicators that this one is one of the others. Unfortunately, without a microscope we're pretty unlikely to be able to ID it accurately to species.

That type of amanita grows all over the east coast in forest floors and yard sides.

There are a bunch of Amanita species that look like those. Without a microscope and some chemicals they are pretty much impossible to tell apart.
