Ok I just got a redboy print in the mail from a fellow shroomerite 3 days ago, and the day after I got it I inoculated and today its 10% colonised. It does not look like cobweb It looks like mycelium. It is crazy that they germinated so fast, all 3 jars I knocked up with multi spore have growth everywere and I made the syringe like I do every time.

I have used fresh spores fresher than these from B+ and it still took 8 days to see a little bit of growth. All I know is the spore inoc is beating my cambodian liquid culter inoc and they were inoced the same day, the cambodian just have a slight white spec in each jar.

True, but that still seems awfully fast, even considering the hybrid vigor that Redboy has. Hopefully, it's the real deal and not mold. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya. RR

Thanks RR I just bumped the thread of the guy who sent me the print, he sent me that thick one in the picture. When I got that huge print in the mail I nearly shat my pants.

=X don't be cobweb, it doesn't look like the cobweb I have seen growing on a wall or any cobweb I have seen in the pictures on here. It looks like mycelium. Please be mycelium =X could cobweb germinate that fast?
Edit: I just looked again and it is pretty darn white. But it is also thin so either tomorrow or the next day it should thicken up and be more apparent.

Yup. So could Cladosporium, some strains of which are snow white at the beginning. Ditto for Trichoderma. You should know in a week or so. I've seen fresh spores germinate and show visible growth in two days, but to be ten percent colonized after two days unfortunately sounds more like mold. I hope I'm wrong. RR

green mold is petty darn white too... until it sporulates
you might be ok. in moments of laziness (which is frequent) ive left the glovebox in the closet and done some silly things with spore prints in open air and have everything turn out just fine... and i have also seen successful and "clean" germinations go that quick.
time will tell!

It is all white still, But the different strains? of mycelium in there sure have done some crazy things lol. One like ryzoed all over the glass without touching any rye exept one kernal. Then there is this big thick thick I mean dence or something mycelium comeing off of one and I swear to god its a 1/4 inch oyster mushroom.

well then if fastfres is correct, skrew any other strain but redboy, I have never had full colonisation in under a week. Ever my lc jars are like 10% after all this time and these were inoculated at the same time.

Sorry man, that doesn't look good at all. I wonder what those flower looking things are? That one in second from the last pic almost looks like a daisy.
Remember, it only takes a spore or two of contaminants to screw up a project. You can still get healthy mycelium from that print by isolating out on agar. The jar on the right is what Redboy should look like just prior to shaking. On the left is copelandia.

what is copelandia?
I can't afford agar at this time and if I could well I am sure I would mess up so much lol.

Copelandia..as in Panaeolus (cyanescens)
edit: on a side note, when starting from 2 or 3cc of LC I always have my pint jars fully colonized in pretty much a week. I have 2 jars of redboy colonizing (finished, actually, I believe) and I can't say I noticed a difference in the time it took. I think the 3 jars of PESA right next to the redboys were even quicker to get to the same point, so I deffinately wouldn't say that redboy is that much of a quicker colonizer...
peace
