ween lot scene

so, i've only seen ween in my hometown, never actually been out to see them. after this recent misadventure w/ phil tour (namely, my ride falling through and leaving me stranded in NJ), i headed back home, to pick up my sister's old car and a friend, and head back out (ratdog & sci in philly on tues, and then phil on friday, sat, sunday). was checking jambase to see if there are any shows in the relative area to see on wednesday or thursday, and saw that ween is playing buffalo on thursday eve. this got me wondering about their lot scene - would i be able to sell beer/other "work" and find/be kicked down a ticket? or do they put on a more "traditional" show, without the whole shakedown atmosphere outside the gates?

and is anybody else planning to go to this show?

i got to see two shows, camden and pnc. then missed the next two shows, staying with some random folks on the jersey coast, and then heading up to nyc for a night. then, still no ride, headed to jersey to visit some family, then to philly, then back to jersey. then was supposed to meet with my ride... but he never showed or called. :shrug: figured it wasn't worth worrying about, and headed home to get a car. after ratdog & sci, and probably ween later this week, i'll get to see three more phil shows this weekend (w/o trey, mike & the duo, but quite honestly they weren't that good - trey just played as if they were his backing band :thumbdown: )

touring without a car is fucking tiring.

i heard alot of shit about treys playing this past week
i thought he would be good with the duo. i dig there spacyness. and mike fits with them pretty well
i cant find the set list but that jones beach show looked top notch, people sayed musicly it wasent up to par tho

they kept playing the same songs, and no phish at all. it's cool that trey and mike have been working on new stuff, but it really sounded like trey's solo stuff (not to mention they played a bunch of his solo songs) - and they didn't play any duo songs (which are pushing the envelope much more than trey is, imo).

i mean, i shouldn't complain - he played a 20+ min terrapin w/ phil & friends, plus mike played banjo on big river and a couple of other tunes, and marco's key style always makes me smile. but compared to phil it was just filler.

nope, missed that unfortunately.

damn, just realized that sci is closing tuesday's show, not ratdog. not that i have anything against them, i just don't know their music at all (only seen them once before), and would prefer to dance into the wee hours to bobby.


back to the main topic tho (although by all means use this thread to discuss :gd_icon: :smile: ) - nobody knows if ween will have a lot scene in buffalo?

Ween lot scene is a bunch of nerdy hoytey toyte kids looking for yay. Not even looking for it because they all got tickets and they got all they need. They are pretty self sufficient. But have a blast, i love those guys, i am sure though you could sell some heads rr something....

hmm... i'm not sure if the show is sold-out yet, but i hate paying retail value for tickets when they're almost always available for 5-10$ cheaper in the lot.

i picked up a couple of cases of bell's for cheap today, figure i can sit on them until phil this weekend and have no problem getting rid of it all (assuming i don't drink it all before then :shocked: ) - but i'd hate to truck it up to buffalo to find nobody's got my miracle.

Who knows till you try you know what i mean?!?!?! I go half way cross country hopeing that someone has a ticket for me with no worries.

Buffalo is a crack hole though, cool heads but a poor as town. You could get away with Bells i am sure... I havn't had a bells since family reunion at alpine valley

Cheese dog yes but up at radio city. Maybe philly if i dont have work wendsday. I need to see ween but i wont go more then an hour or two to see them..... I saw phill a few times so i am not stressing that

the radio city shows are thursday and friday, yeah?

i was debating to see the thursday show instead of ween, but it'd be a pain in the ass to drive up to nyc from philly, and buffalo is more direct to columbus for friday's phil show.

do you have my telephone number? you should hit me up if you end up going to ratdog in philly on tuesday

:lol: no, i rode to that show with some random kids i met, and stayed with them at some deluxe beach condo in ocean beach (i think that's what it's called - it was like 45 min south of holmdel). spent the next day on the beach, drinking magic hat w/ them - and then headed up to nyc on sunday night.

good meeting you, btw - and sorry if i was mumbling incoherently, i was a bit dosed and confused :grin:

haha no worries, the music started back up anyway, nice hangin' for the 30 or so seconds..

yeah that's a nice stretch of beach down there. Did you guys have to ride through that checkpoint my local town cops had set up outside the show (that was too easy..those bastards!)

no, we didn't have any troubles, except some cops driving around the lot kicking us out. thankfully we had a designated driver as well. although after 15 minutes of myself and the other guy in the backseat continually turning up dead reckoning to extreme levels and singing along at the top of our lungs, i'm sure he wished he wasn't sober :grin:

i met this girl at that show who had been living in the same small south-indian town that my family is from, ended up spending the whole second set dancing with her and wishing i could follow her back to north jersey, or i knew whose house i was staying at, so i could invite her along :smile:

Yeah, the state police like everyone to leave the lot so that they can go on home.. I was at a different show and we were all way too drunk to drive, and they were really mad that we were waiting for a cab :lol: 

So how was your Jersey experience.. are you a hater?  I know OMR is :grin:
