I used to live in the same area and can vouche for Busch Gardens and also there's a water theme park there these days (I think it's water country USA) but is minimal driving from busch gardens. Also, you should check out luray caverns as well--it's up by the blue ridge parkway and they have several caving experiences, and also white water rafting for the brave as well as white water rafting adventures (they have river guides who you can recruit to steer for ya) Its a good time.
If you're looking for something interesting... I'd check out the Edgar Cayce headquarters if you're into such things. that's located in Va Beach (which is approx an hour and a half--(maybe two?) from Williamsburg. you can find more info on the place at this site: edgarcayce dot org. There is also historical williamsburg where you can go to see Jamestown (the first european settlement) and watch reinactments, take tours of the "old days". I would definitely say get to D.C. if you haven't had the chance to get there yet. Lots of events there, as well as the usual museums. There's a new native american museum there as well with some AWESOME exhibits--I got the chance to visit last time I was in the area.
Then there's also Va Beach if you dig the beach. When I was a kid we used to go to the eastern shore (the peninsula to the right of VA) and there are quite a few camp sites over there. One I remember as having log cabins and a slurry of other things: Pools, go carts, bikes, golf carts, mini golf, paddle boats, fishing, boat rentals, blah blah blah... and if you want to get back to nature you can do a campsite there as well, they offer tons of daily activities, though mostly for the youngins. Not bad for hanging out, but, with camping "resorts" there are a few rules that are enforced with many young children about--quiet time, no visible alcohol (cover your bottles) etc.
Hope that helps
