Corn Cob Slurry!!
    #577288 - 03/12/02 07:25 PM (23 years, 2 months ago)

Hey all, this is my first post ain't i speical :-p Anyway, I've been using the Pf-Tek for a lil while now and I have been very successful with this tek. But now I want to experiment a lil bit. I've tried the microwave tek and failed b/c i did not have enough moisture.

Now I want to try the Corn Cob Slurry. I'm thinkin of using Jiffy Mix from the Sea of Shrooms Tek V 1.0. I'm goin to be using a 10 or 15 gallon rubbermaid container. I'm not sure which one yet b/c I'm not sure what size the store carries. But, how do I keep the moisture up? I'm kinda cramped for space. This is goin into my closet. I'm not sure if i can fit a sonic humidifier in there. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Welcome:). You can keep the moisture up by using damp perlite. Put a bed of soaked perlite in the bottom of your growing chamber and put the lid on. Now remember to fan  occaisonally because it will raise the humidity quite a bit. A layer of 2 inches should work fine.:)bluhoney

Is it ok for the corn cob slurry to be touching the Perlite? I think it is since I put the cakes on the perlite. I don't want to fuck up again. :-)

Perlite has zillions of little pockets. These pockets are what hold moisture and make it nice to work with. These pockets are also natural incubators for contamination to hide out in. I don't have any experience working with cob slurry, or perlite for that matter, so don't put too much trust in my answer... I personally would not allow the slurry to come in contact with the perlite. You know you are safe if they don't touch... you might or might not be safe if they do touch. Why bother with the risk?
