corn cob worm casting and straw!

My friend did 15 gallons of straw and dung with 3 gallons of corn cob spawn.
It has been about a week and there really isn't much going on. I was under the impression that it should be doing something within five days. Is there any hope for him? Hopefully, we have some corn cob experts out there!
