experimenting with casings

i just put together a 2 cake casing, so far its looking great. a bit of mycelium is poking through the top and everything is awesome.
i read up on milk dunking, and someone once said they dunked a cake and pins just exploded out of it.
im assuming that the cake got more moisture and nutients...but since im casing my cake and not growing it as a cake:

when the mycelium is about 30% on top of the casing layer, is it alright if i sprinkle some BRF on top(say about 5ml)? to give it some nutrients? should i make the BRF damp? or am i just opening up my terrarium to contamination?

if pinning is what your worried about ...once the mycelium has evenly poked through the casing layer.... put it in your terrarium...drop temp(or make sure its around 70 degrees)..increase air exchange and give it some light...
you should have no problem getting it to pin this way....if you do try cold shocking it before putting it in the terrarium next time...
extra substrate sprinkled on top really isnt gonna help your fruiting out....it should already have enough nutrition to produce healthy fruits

ok i see, thanks, i wasn't worrying about pinning, i was just thinking maybe there was a secret to getting more shrooms. i thought of the contams being a problem, but with the 2 strains im growing, the seem to be invinsible against contams! i even tried to contam one jar by not putting it in the pressure cooker at all, and it still had no problem, but a slight slower growth.

on the 2nd or 3rd flush i am going to sprinkle some BRF anyway, just to give it a shot to see what happens...
