My Compost pile (day 15)

It is 15 days since I started building my compost pile, and still I have problems getting the right pile temps...in the first ten days I also had problem to get the right water content (now I think it is ok...) I think my problem with the pile temps is because of a too dry pile in the first 10 days.
Here are some pictures, what do you think experts???

Why do you need to maintain the temps? Shouldn't it just manage itself? When my mom used to make compost for her garden it was pretty much a pile of organic trash. Then when she was ready to use it and it was "done", she adjusted the PH and mixed it into the soil. Is this different?

The kind of compost pile you do to grow mushrooms should get very high temps throught out the process. These temps help to accelerate the composting proccess and to kill many of the fungus and bacteria present in it before pasteurizating... Those high temps are the consequence of the actynomicetes working.

Water it some more, it looks a little dry to me. Also cover the with a tarp to hold in some heat and moisture. Leave the sides open so it can breath
