Mushroom Hunting Video 1

So---- I'm trying to figure out how to market my mushroom hunting video. Can ya'll help me. (Yes, all you old timers, I'm finally getting around to finishing it....) I want to get a feeling for the demand-side of the venture, so I can establish the supply-side layout... if you know hwat I mean. So- flatly put: How many of us here would buy (or WOULD HAVE bought, before learning the hard way) a high-quality video tape on hunting URBAN-dwelling, temperate LBMs, covering four or five species of psilocybes, and a few species of lookalikes, which kill and make sick... for about the $$ cost that Stamets' publishers get for his Psilcybe hunting guide? This tape would be a first in a series - covering the west coast of the US, and western European species which favor URBAN settings - If it goes well, I'd follow it up with a RURAL coverage, including the gulf-coast and temperate grassland species, and perhaps hit the road for the other hemisphere... maybe MJ can take me to Thailand with him, and maybe we'll swing through AUSTRALIA.... Any thoughts on this are appreciated! (though I'm not going to answer criticism about "capitalising on the sacred mushroom,"- I've already come to terms with that..) Also, by "High-quality vicdeo" I DO mean "High-quality" - I am a professional video producer/shooter and I'd be providing a very thorough, very well-executed product. Expected release date is April 15. 2002 (just in time for the TAX MAN) thanks all, and XOXOXO mattso

I'd buy it. In fact I will buy it, reserve me a copy at any cost. You may want to visit me this fall for some rarer species to film. I'll just have to blindfold you before you get here

thanks for the welcomes. Yes, still in LA, no mushrooms here.... it's a sick kind of torture to come back to the old haunts (like the shroomery) - perhaps this video will reengage me in the dialogue. To answer GG's question, about thirty minutes... about fifteen bucks? What do you think.... we're not done with the edit yet, but it looks to be about a half and hour... thought the first 5-7 are introductory, covering mushroom structure, basic life cycle, environments and basic terminology. But you know.... it's not really designed for the learned hunter... rather, it's for people who don't know how to do indentifications and where/how to look... Still - I'm thrilled to hear that even the bigdogs want a bite.... More info... One in a series of videos, Designed to inform and educate postential hunters about the dangers of mistaken identity - Puts Psilocybes into the category of "toxic mushrooms" - which have "instilled a profound, and rarely rational fear in the consiousness of modern western cultures"
As I say, this first installment is about the TEMPERATE - URBAN - L.B.M... That is, the ones that grow in the parks, your gardens, outside your firehouses, schools and hospitals, etc. of cooler, wetter environs - specifically, northern west coast of the US and the west coast of Europe. ) It won't cover the RURAL species like semilenceata, subfimentaria and the lot... nor will it cover any of the warm-weather species.... Those are later installments. I really wanted to keep it catagorical, so people could learn about the shrooms growing in their own back yard, so-to-speak.... And YES GG, I AM going to see you in FLA - when and if this video pays for the air fare... And Yes, Cardboard, old man, I'll meet you eventually, I'm sure. m~

$15, you gotta be kidding. A specialized video of high quality should go for more than that. I paid $80 freakin dollars for the shitty HomeStead grow video. Blank tapes are like $3-5 and shipping is about the same. Personally, I'd pay $25-30 for it easy. You should see if you can get it on CD rom in a DVD playable format as well as VHS. CD's are cheaper in cost, cheaper to ship and more stable for longterm storage. Don't sell yourself short.

with all the information oh how to make you r own shrooms, i probaly wouldnt buy it unless i saw it at some head shop real cheap. on the other hand, if you were to produce a high quality video on the PF tek and some of its variation that video would be a big seller. i think atleast. also, a video on the actual growing of p. mushrooms would be of interest to many. the video in hunting mushrooms would be only of interest to those living in the area where the video was shot.

mattso! Good to see you again I would be willing to advertise the video on the website, I think a hunting video would be quite popular considering the amount of emails I get about picking mushrooms.

Hi MJ.... no, brother, I'm enjoying a balmy So.Cal evening by the BarBQue... I'm sorry to say... I will be up there in the Fall/Winter, FOR SURE this time... to begin work on TAPE 2 in our series. I'll send you a private mesage. Hi Thor, thanks. I agree. AND THANKS Ricky - for you comments. This is what I really need to hear - the potential buyer... In response to your thoughts: I figure there are about 20 million people living between San Fransisco and Vancouvewr BC.- and another 60 miilion in the UK, about 6 millioin in Ireland, another 15 Million living in weather-appropriate regions of France, Holland, and Germany that's roughly a hundred million people who live within striking distance of Temperate magic mushrooms - that's a lot of zeros. 100,000,000 And this is only the first in a series.<-b> Subsequent tapes would service the hunting needs of the 15million or so people in Florida, the 12 million people in Georgia and Louisiana, and let's not forget about those idiots over there in the carolinas... Then, " lord willin' and the creek don't rise...." We're off to Australia - there are over twenty million people between there and NewZealand.... I don't how many people want it, but there are some folkes out there, I'm convinced. As for growing tapes... I'll talk to my buddies, see what we can come up with. Thank you sincerly.
