Chinese Buffets

Got off of work around 10pm and headed over to a new chinese buffet that just opened across the street.

After 6 or 7 plates worth of food and dessert....I'm done for. Dehydrated and done for.

I had a few dry heaves in the bathroom...but nothing. I kinda wish I did hurl, I still feel sick.

Whats eveyones opinion on all you can eat chinese?

The only Chinese I'll eat is the General Tosos (sp?) chicken w/ some weird chinese noodles. Some of their rice isn't too bad either. That's about it though.

m00nshine is currently vacationing in Maui. Rumor has it he got rolled by drunken natives and is currently prostituting himself in order to pay for airfare back to the mainland but he's having trouble juggling a hairon addiction. He won't be back for a long while.

I've worked at two different chinese joints including a buffet, and a sushi bar too. Suffice to say, it'll be a long-ass time before i've worked up a taste for that kind of food again.

I know a lot of people that throw up or feel like throwing up after chinese food. Personally, it's never bothered me. Maybe some people have some allergy to MSG... because god knows chinese food is full of it.

Chinese Buffets are fucking disgusting. Who would have thought that rice and vegetables could be prepared in such a sloppy and unhealthy way? The stuff makes your stomach feel all weird and you feel like shit for the rest of the day. It's just barf-inducing trash.

I think these places are a conspiracy by the Chinese to make Americans fat.

There's a really good chinese restaurant near me that has a kick ass buffet on wednesdays only.
It rocks because they have like a dozen dishes, some eggrolls, soup and chinese cookies and the food is always fresh and not too greasy. They keep bringing out new stuff, and there are always surprises and they cook to the tastes of our neighborhood, so some latino and soul food influences can be found in the food.
Last time I was there they had very delicious fried plaintains.

randall, what are you doing filling up on rice? go for the meat, that's where they loose the most money!!!

first time i went to the chinese buffet, i had 4 plates of meat, stacked about 4 inches tall each... i was full for like 12 hours. good chinese buffets are hard to find around here... there's one that's acceptable, but not like "aw hell yea, let's go tear up the chinese buffet" quality... i have to drive 2 hours for that one, and only on sundays when the food taste good...

Some Chinese Buffets are good, most are mediocre, at best.

Usually they're pretty gross because the Chinese people are not stupid. They assume that most Americans are, though.
They use the leftover prepared food from the day before to stock today's buffet and cover it with MSG laden sauces to hide any spoiled smell/taste.
They use the cheapest possible ingredients and supplies to make the mass-produced dishes they choose to put in the steam table.

The better the buffet quality, the more it costs to "eat all you can in one sitting". We have restaurants here that do ONLY BUFFET.
Even those are mediocre, except one. It's a Japanese Buffet Restaurant called "Menado". Dinner is $27.50 per person. It's pretty damn good.

Yeah after I eat at a chinese buffet it seems I always end up with a stomach ache. But the food is good, the muscles, crab meat, chicken dumplings, battered chicken and shrimp. All very delicious, I can only eat about three full plates though then I'm full.

I used to absolutely hate chinese buffets.  Compared to the food i was getting at a normal chinese place, the buffets food was never appealing to me.  Then i moved into an area which has zero good chinese places, all of them are the buffet style, drive through takeout, chinese food.  So i just stopped eating it, i dont like paying for food i dont enjoy eating.  A month or two ago my buddy calls me up and asks if i want to go grab some dinner with him, i went and turns out the place was a chinese buffet.  It actually turned out to be damn good, not the best chinese food i've eaten, but leaps and bounds above the rest of the places in town.  Ive gone one other time and the food wasnt as good (but this was an hr before closing), but it's changed my mind on the buffet.

Oh, and the fried donuts covered in chinese magical special sugar (according to my friend, it's different from our normal american sugar :wink: ), are fucking awesome.
