Is rye more nutritive than wheat?

Are there any major differences between these whole grains? Can one be substituted for the other?

yes, and no.
There are major differences, even between types of wheat. In the back of TMC or GGMM there is a table of nutritional content of a large number of grains.. buy and read both of these books, they are highly reccommended (both by staments).

I used whole grain wheat the first time and had great success. White rice even works great.

Did you mix the wheat with anything or did you just use it straight?
