wal-mart/ jiffy mix

can someone tell me what the bag of jiffy mix looks like? i went to wal-mart and noticed they stocked up their garden supplies, so i looked for jiffy mix. couldnt find it. the ladie said she never heard of it. what does the bag look like? is jiffy mix a wal-mart brand or what?


BTW wal-mart has a whole isle stocked with KERR jars!! a whole freakin isle!1 must be canning season.:)

It's a small bag appx 7" wide, 7" deep, and 14" tall. Bright pink (fuschia) on the left and bright green on the right. I found it right beside those little round seed starter things that swell up when you add water, I think they are a Jiffy brand product, too. My Walmart has an indoor garden supply area and an outdoor area. The Jiffy mix was outside, where all the live plants were.

If you want Jiffy Mix, check out www.alwaysgrows.com. You can get a six pack of 8 quart bags for $6.60 (retail price $30!) or a 12 pack of 4 quart bags for $6.99 (retail price $40!) Add $10 for UPS Ground to either. This is one of the best deals I've ever seen on the internet. You'll get enough Jiffy Mix to last you for like the next five years. If you don't grow much it might be overkill, but at prices like that, why not? You should hurry, though, because I think those prices are only for a limited time.

Jiffy Mix is similar to 50-50 casing mix (half vermiculite, half peat moss, with a little lime for pH balance). You can check out the Casing page on the Grow/Find menu to see how 50-50 casing mix is used (if you add crushed oyster shells, it becomes 50-50 Plus casing mix). The idea for using Jiffy Mix as a substitute for 50-50 comes from the Sea of Shrooms casing tek.

heh 2 things
1 i find half the time you ask an employee at wal-mart where something is they have no idea what the hell you are talking about, in stock or not
2 wal-mart doesn't stock it right now (at least not around here) outta season...

i really dont care if i cant find it now. i just bought some forest floor reptile bedding, same as coco coir, but you dont have to pay for shipping:) this shit kicks ass!! the mycilium rips through this shit. and it can be fouund at your local pet store, unlike gro-bricks that ussuallly have to be ordered.
