50/50 mix (jiffy mix)
    #1393527 - 03/20/03 01:15 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Today i will be going to homedepot and getting some jiffy mix which i remember i was told once that this would be the better casing layer than 100% verm. Now what i wanted to know is do i just go to homedepot and look for a "jiffy mix" or do i have to make this mix myself? Also is there something that i want to being looking for when i get the bag of this mix? (ie. if the bag says xxxx dont get it)

thanks

robbyrob, jiffy mix is premixed, jiffy mix is the actual name of the product.
and yes, as kramer says, dont get anything with fungicide in it.

and one other thing... if you are able to find jiffymix at homedepot, please let me know.. cuz im gathering materials right now for my great-uncle's neighbor's dentist's first grow
if you arent able to find them at home depot, but find them somewhere else, that info would be equally as useful.

thanks!

yeah, nuke it .
it should already be sterile, but you'll need to add water .
so, you could add sterilized water, but i think it is easier just to wet it and put it in the microwave , :smirk:

The homedepots near my location do not have this mix, the specialists havent even heard of it........;\

I've checked every store west of the mississippi, and.... I have only heard of one. A fellow gamer from an old Half-Life clan mentioned that he also looked everywhere, and accidently ran into it at Riteaid. He bought their last 3 bags.

=X

I've tried speciality growing centers, none seem to have it. They have generally heard of it .... "....wow, years ago".

Check your local RiteAid (formerly 'Payless Food and Drug')

A friend of mine just found a "Jiffy Mix plus" at Wal-Mart today..... sounds exactly like the normal "Jiffy Mix" but contains fertilizer.... is that a bad thing?

Rite Aid Jiffy Mix brand comes in 4 quart blocks, cost like 2-3 bucks for a bag,

cheap, works awesome.

Lowes has Jiffy Mix, Hydrated Lime, Perlite, Verm, Peat Moss, and tons of other stuff which shroomerites need. Even in the dead of winter they had Jiffy Mix. There is a Lowes in most metro areas east of the Mississippi and many west of it as well.

www.lowes.com

PS: They also have something called Dried Blood. I'm wondering if this is the same "blood meal" that I've seen references to.
