If I understand your scenario correctly & if you're using default settings & DHCP, it sounds to me like your cable modem (I presume)is still synced up to your mac address on your computer instead of your mac address on your router. If this is the case then your cable modem will need to be reset. Follow the instructions that came with your router to hook up to cable modem. Most procedures involve disconnecting the output from the cable modem. Then removing power from your cable modem (for a couple of minutes)just turning off the modem will not reset it. The power must be removed or if the modem has a reset switch on it that may work also. Then reapply power to the cable modem, let it go thru it's power sequence (it may take a couple minutes). When it looks like its normal status then connect the cable modem to your WAN port on your router. Turn your router on & let it go thru its sequence. When it looks normal then you can try your connection to see if it works. If it does great, if it doesn't then check your IP address of your wireless card . It should be 192.168.0.something, if it is then your computer is communicating with your router. You then need to see if your router is getting an IP address from your cable modem. You can do this thru the administration utility of your router, but you may have to be connected thru a network cable instead of wirelessly to do that.

What router do you have?
Like said, you might need to cahnge the mac address of your router to match your pc's. Most routers let you change it, get some details.
can you get to the routers web access? http://192.168.1.1/ username blank password "admin" for linksys routers.
