My nose!

Oh my. So, it started one day skiing, my nose started to feel dry and stuff, and then over the week got kind of painful, and then I kept blowing it and stuff, and now I basically have pretty much like bare, bleeding flesh on the outer rim of my nose, and it scabs over, and doesnt let anything out of my nose, so my nose gets stuffy, so I end up picking it off, cause its painful as heck. And I dont know when its going to heal and stuff.

Oh god Im fucked.

Soak a bit of cotton with hydrogen peroxide (3%) and use it to soften the scab rather than picking it off. As long as you pick at the scab, it wont heal... the more you pick at the scab, the more it will scar.

Well, it almost sounds like an allergy or cold related thing. I used to get the same sort of problem, to a lesser extent though. Perhaps some kind of saline solution would help as well. It should go away on its own - provided that you don't touch or irritate it too much. It might be a temperature or temporary allergy sort of thing.

I have found one product that works incredible for such raw chaffed noses
Just take a little dab of medicated vaseline and rub it on there. It will burn a little at first, but then it will cool down.. and while the medicated part works its wonders.. the vaseline keeps a thin layer on there protecting it from further damage and leaving it moisturized.

Ha...well I personally use aveeno...even tho it's just for hands but it works wonders for me and other people I know......or yeah....if you don't wanna go out and buy it...try some oatmeal....lol... :smile:

I just use whatever anti-chapped-lips type applicant that I have on hand. Those things are a pot-head's best friend. "Lip Medex" by Blistex (comes in a little blue tub thing...) is particularly fast-acting. I hear great things about Carmex, but have never used it.

Of course, all of these lip treatments work best BEFORE your nose is a bleeding mess. At this point, you should probably listen to what everyone else said. However, remember this the next time you go skiing. It is nice to have something like this on your person.

Combine it with some kind of anti-cold or anti-allergy tylenol or benadryl or what have you to kill the runny nose.

Yeah so I stopped touching the scab and it feels and looks pretty crazy and nasty, but oh well, i think itll heal in a couple of days if I dont touch it. I also got some saline spray which worked a tiny bit, and will try the vaseline.

Ps: I never even knew this problem could exist hahaha.

Yeah it does.. especially the medicated kind.
I used to get extreme allergies where I would be sneezing non stop for like days. Blowing your nose all the time resulted in one raw ass nose.. especially if you run out of tissues and start using paper towels or something. Ouch.
It really does work good.

What JacquesCousteau said too.. that chapped lips stuff like medex works great.. same concept as the medicated vaseline.
