yeah, it is just a rumour that the pumpkins will play coachella. they may, but last i heard, no. billy and jimmy have signed onto a record label (i don't know which one, but it's definitely not virgin) as the smashing pumpkins... they are working on a new album that may or may not be released before the end of the year... so much is still up in the air.

I've been listening to a lot of The Smashing Pumpkins again lately. fuck, Adore is so good. Why did that album catch so much heat?

Guess it's hard to follow up a 2-disc slam-bang whammy like Mellon Collie, though.

I liked Gish the best, with Siamese Dream coming a close second. Never had a chance to see them live, though.:sad:

I got to see them on the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness tour. :rockon:

Remember when Jimmy Chamberlain and the pianist, Jimmy Melvoin, OD'ed on heroin in a NYC hotel room?  I had tickets to the show that very night..Garbage was supposed to open.  It got rescheduled for September, and Grant Lee Buffalo (:puke:) opened instead.  It was such a fucking awesome show. Madison Square Garden, sold out crowd, and when Zero came on, all the music cut out and the whole audience was yelling along with the "emptiness is loneliness" part.

Nope...I'm actually listening to it right now. There's some real gems on this CD...right now I'm quite obsessed with Shame.

Machina didn't quite do it for me, but there are a few really good songs: Stand Inside Your Love, Wound, Try Try Try.

haha weird, I posted about it before I read what you asked. Machina I didn't like too much, but I love everything the Pumpkins did. Pisces Iscariot was a wicked Bside album, have you heard it? bsides from Siamese Dream and Gish.. good stuff.

Yeh I'm not crazy about Pisces, honestly. :shrug:

Jimmy Chamberlain is one of my favorite drummers of all time. The marching style rhythems on a few of the mellon collie songs just kill me.

Good way.

Well my favorite band of all time is Talking Heads, and I love all of David Byrne's solo work. Other than that my pantheon of both old rock gods and young bands would be Sigur Ros, Neil Young, David Bowie, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Modest Mouse, TOOL, The Big Sleep, Interpol, Lake Trout, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, TV on the Radio, Sam Champion, Love as Laughter, Spoon, Sufjan Stevens, Pulp, I dunno, I could go on forever.

i'm with you here (both with the album thoughts, and never seeing them). there was some songs on Gish that d'Arcy sang and caused my insides to wobble.

Cool, Modest Mouse is my favorite band of recently. Since I've listened to so much SP, I don't listen to much anymore. So they are my "alltime" favorite, while MM is my current favorite. I picked up a Death Cab for Cutie CD recently too, best CD I've heard in a while.

Which Death Cab CD? I like two of their albumsbut their recent releases don't do it for me at all.

You should check out this amazing band from Kentucky called My Morning Jacket. Now that's some damn good rock.

The Photo Album is my favorite, but I also like that other one...grr..not We have the Facts, I can't remember the name of it, and it's not on my iPod so I cant check...I don't really ever listen to them at all anymore.

Brugman if you like Modest Mouse check out Wolf Parade.

Oh man I can't believe The Arcade Fire didn't make its way onto my ltitle list there. And lately, I listen to a lot of New Pornographers.

I only have their newest one. I LOVE it, it's probably the most beautiful music I've heard. On my CD buying list, I have the rest of their albums, and I'm gonna get an Arcade CD, and probably a New Pornographers CD. I've heard some singles from both, and I like. Arcade Fire seems like a band I could really get into. They have a sound that I like.

Wolf Parade'salbum "Apologies to the Queen Mary" was produced by Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse. :smirk:  he "discovered" Wolf Parade.

Arcade Fire is terrific...and if you really dig them, then check out Talking Heads, cause David Byrne is one of their biggest inspirations.

Talking Heads is a funky world all its own.

oh and it's "We Have the Facts, and We're Voting Yes". I wanna hear their older stuff, I'm sure it's great. I was dissappointed with Modest Mouse's newest album, but I love their older stuff. If I love the new DCFC album as much as I do, I hope I'll like the older stuff too.

I've only heard a few songs that I downloaded (?Coney Island?) and I liked em, so once I get back into the big city I'ma buy some CDs.
