The Smashing Pumpkins Appreciation Thread

I hadn't listened to them for a while(since my cds are either lost or scratched), until I heard "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" this morning.  These guys were my favorite band back in High School.  I was so sad when they broke up, but their memory lives on.  Long live the Pumpkins! :headbang:

they where my favorite band way way way back befor i realy understood anything they where singing about
but yeah bullet with butterfly wings started it all for me

I got to see them a little bit before they broke up. They took jimmy back and Darcy was still in the band and they went on a small club tour of like only 9 clubs. Me and my bro went to our Ticketbasterd outlet to buy tickets as soon as they went on sale. we were the only ones in line cause the show was 4 hours away in Cincinnati at Bogart's we bought 3 tickets and thought about buying a Fourth when the guy said too late SOLD OUT! 2 fucking minutes and it was sold out!! We couldn't believe it. We were so happy and we got to see smashing pumpkins basically at a bar! It kicked ass! I bought a tee shirt while I was there, that had the 9 club dates they did, on the back. I still have it and maybe wore 4 times ever.

I remember starting a band in elementary school and it was inspired by the smashing pumpkins. I played the tupperware containers and used a couple of pens lmao

Just listened to 1979... come to think of it I didn't even know what the hell mellon collie meant when it first came out. I love them.

Smashing Pumpkins was one of the first CD's i ever owned Mellon Collie and Infinte Sadness ROCKED. RESPECT KNUCKLES to the Pumpkins.

I like Siamese Dream the most. Chereb Rock would be my fav track - you can't beat that guitar tone.

I love the Smashing Pumpkins. For several years of my life they were my favorite band ever. I dig ALL of their full albums, my favorites probobly being Siamese Dreak (hell yeah!) Adore and Machina. The last two are hard to get into but very rich. Melon Collie represents too.

Honestly their music has had a big impact on who I am, probobly alot bigger than Phish.

I read a guitar book on Siamese Dream and Billy said on average a song on that album would have 20-30 guitar tracks. Just the main riff on cherub rock was like 3 maybe even 4 guitar tracks with a super weird fuzz effect. That is such an awesomely produced record. Try it on headphones. :crazy2:

i saw billy corgan a month ago, he said he was in town working on a project and he was trying to get his old band back together.

yes, from what i hear, the pumpkins will be getting back together. it is still unclear as to whether or not james and d'arcy will join the reunion. and yes, much praise needs to go to the smashing pumpkins and all that they represent. i'm a struggling musician who's had more than my share of inspiration from the worlds greatest band. alls i gotsta say is 2008... fuck republican... fuck democratic... billy corgan for preZident! rock on fellow pumpkineers!
