A newbie with a question

I was just wondering...when I make the cake and I build in the reservoir...can I drop water right down onto it? Like..when I make the cake the reservoir will be vermiculite almost all the way down to the bottom and after the entire cake is colonized I take it out and put it in the terrarium....And how often should I water it? I plan on putting it in a simple coke bottle arrangement.

Don't use a resevoir, either employ the dunk tek after the first flush, or use it in conjunction with the double ended casing tek.

You might wait til the cake is birthed.
Then sterilize a drill bit.....then drill a hole down the center of the cake.
I am going to try this.....i have seen good results.

I have used a syringe on cakes.....10cc of water injected into the cakes.
I have have been getting good results.

why not use the reservoir tek? it can be as fruitful as dunking. I have a few jars colonizing where i made a reservoir. this is my first time with a reservoir but i have sen great results. Ii know that you inject 10ccc after birth and about 1-2 cc per day. though i have had great results puting a cake on a lid full of verm right after birth also.

roadkill, you dont inject straight in the cake without a reservoir do you? can you do that? the water wouldnt have a place to rest without a reservoir, right?

Yeah pleezr......i do.

I inject 10cc of water into my cakes after i birth them.
Then every few days i inject more water.
I have been getting good results......doing this.
I inject into the sides in a few places.

you also have one more option, the "taurus" tek, where there is a tube placed into the center of your cake before sterilization, which later makes for a great way to rehydrate your cake.
Search on it, and you will find.
