Confused, please help

Well I have these cakes, and they have been colonized completely, this being the 44 day after innoculation. They are the EQ or B+ strain, not sure which, They have been in the incubator at 80 to 85 degrees the whole time. the jars have shown a little bit not a whole lot of water inside the jars in droplets.

My problem is there are no pins, no little guys with red heads. At best there are some little stringy mycelium looking for expansion.

I birthed one yesterday and started giving it light, previously they had all been in darkness.

Im going to inject the birthed one with water today.

Anyother suggestions. I've spent so long on them I would hate to scrap them.

are you expeting them to pin inside the jars? Actually if they start pinning inside the jar then youve waited too long...sounds like youre on the right track to me.

I thought Id wait like ive heard it to be a good Idea until you see some pins but none have shown.

I just injected the birthed one with water. the cake was rock hard I couldn't even get the need to squirt into it until the second or third insert. Even after very little water got inside.

I think my problem is that the cake is dehydrated, although it has a bright white color.

Any suggestions on giving it more water, besides the injection way that I have already tried?

just try to up the humidity in your terrarium, this should be sufficient. Your cake does sound dry, it sounds like you didnt use enough water in your substrate. Please allow it much time to pin in a high humidity environment, but if all else fails you can use the dunk tek.

remember i said if all else fails, we usually dont dunk until the third flush at least...many people jump the gun on this.

The reason you did not get any pins forming in the jars is because you didnt expose them to light. After the jars are 100% colonized expose them to light if you want invitro pinning. Just opening the box a little will do the trick. Go ahead and birth them all into your terrarium. Just give them a little light and proper humidity(95%) and you will be fine. And you dont need to dunk until after the cakes start turnig a little bluish in color. Take care
