What are these stringy things on my casing called?

The mycelium on the surface of my casing has developed into these thin, stringy strands that are about 1cm long and point straight up. What are they? Are they normal? Should I expect pinning soon?

From how you describe it, it sounds like rhizomorphic mycelium growth, but I'm far from sure about that. Is there any chance you post a pic?

I got these as well and my casing pinned a couple of days later. At first I thought it was abnormal hyphal knots but now I think they are just confused rhizomorphs. Don't worry about them, they just look stupid and don't seem to do anything...

Thanks for the input, laguendo. Yea...I was thinking they were abnormal knots too. By the way, the strain is cambo. Its been 6 days since i cased, and about 4 days in the fruiting chamber. I know i probably sound like an impatient newbie but I was (still am, sort of) concerned something really abnormal was goin on. Any ideas on what might have caused it?

its called rhizomorphic, usually a sign of dikaryotic secondary myc. now capable of fruitbodies. (successful fusion of monokaryons (primary myc.)or basically mycelium fucking)

I know its mycelium, and was pretty sure it was rhizomorphic...I just thought that since it was growing so tall maybe there was something wrong with the environment

Yes paradis, quite possible. I noticed something similar; rhizomorphic strands growing, apparently 'searching' for new worlds with moisture and nutrients to colonize. I believe rhizomorphic growth is the fungi way of travelling.
